How often you are faced with challenges where your first thought is – It is difficult, this cannot be done, how can I do this, or similar such self-doubt inflicting questions?
How often do you see yourself from the glasses of others around you – I cannot behave in this manner, what will they think about me, everyone will laugh at me?
“Our mind is a powerful tool equipped with some potential nuclear devices inside it.”
Truly said, our minds can imagine faster than our eyes can see. Our mind can process complex pieces of data in microseconds and that includes a large portion of emotional data. Our mind can feel the Navarasas of emotions in the blink of an eye – Peace, Love, Joy, Sorrow, Anger, Disgust, Fear, Wonder, and Confidence. Our mind is like a vacant land where you can sow any seeds & nurture it to become a big strong tree of your beliefs. The outcome would be the fruits, which would taste sweet or sour or be completely poisonous, depending on what seed you planted & how you nurtured it. Over a period of time, the land would get full and there won’t be any space to plant new seeds, and that’s the time when we stop learning new things & accepting new ideas. We know that we know everything, but who knows that we actually do or we don’t!
The mind does all these things for us with the help of a wonderful companion called the Subconscious. Subconscious is another genie in the disguise of a humble servant. Mind stores all its experiences, reference points, knowledge, memories, and feelings in the subconscious. At appropriate times, even before the mind asks for it, the subconscious-genie presents the data for the mind and diverts the attention of the mind from the actual to the perceived reality. The immediate of a martial art expert would be a physical defense posture when posed with a sudden threat. The immediate of a painter would be to see the colors when in front of the sunrise. The immediate of an extrovert would be to talk when surrounded by lots of people, while an introvert would withdraw from the same scenario. All these responses are drawn from or provided by the subconscious-genie to the mind.
“How do you pamper your mind and the subconscious-genie?”
From childhood, everyone faces several nay-sayers and most of the responses that we receive are negations. We are told not to do a lot of things and not to behave in a certain way. A lot of those negations are based on the opinions of the person who says that. It is actually like garbage dropped inside our basket of the subconscious. Subconscious does not differentiate between garbage or valuable, it simply stores it for future reference. But when you have lots of garbage, it stinks and makes you sick. And that is exactly what happens with the mind.
